Businessicy – The Bali provincial government has set an ambitious goal to attract 6.5 million international visitors in 2025, according to Tjok Bagus Pemayun, Head of the Bali Tourism Office. Speaking in Denpasar on Tuesday, Pemayun expressed confidence in the target, citing strong growth in tourist arrivals over the past year.
In 2024, Bali welcomed approximately 6.3 million foreign tourists. Including international visitors who entered Bali through domestic routes such as Gilimanuk Port or domestic flights, the total reached an estimated seven million. This growth underscores Bali’s status as one of Indonesia’s premier destinations for global travelers.
The provincial government has also set a target of attracting up to 10.5 million domestic tourists in 2025. Pemayun emphasized that these goals are realistic given Bali’s consistent appeal and the island’s ongoing efforts to enhance its tourism infrastructure and experiences.

Tjok Bagus Pemayun, Head of the Bali Tourism Office, revealed that the 6.3 million foreign tourists arriving in 2024 were primarily from direct international flights. For 2025, Bali aims to welcome 6.5 million foreign visitors, but challenges such as traffic congestion, waste management, and land-use conversion need to be addressed to sustain growth.
Pemayun emphasized the importance of implementing effective solutions. “The provincial government will enforce laws while acting as a regulator and facilitator. We also rely on the support of tourism stakeholders,” he explained. Despite existing regulations, Pemayun stressed the need for better implementation and synchronization to resolve persistent issues affecting the island’s tourism appeal.
To attract more international visitors, the Bali Tourism Office has unveiled its 2025 Calendar of Events, featuring 54 activities. Among these, 45 are cultural highlights, such as the iconic ogoh-ogoh (giant effigies) parade in March. Major attractions like the Bali International Air Show in September aim to draw global attention and provide unique experiences for visitors.
By focusing on infrastructure improvements, stricter law enforcement, and enhanced cultural programming, Bali strives to overcome its challenges and achieve its ambitious 2025 tourism targets. The province remains committed to maintaining its reputation as a world-class destination.
